THE MOMENT.

In 16th-century Japan, the swordsmith Muramasa forged blades renowned for their craftsmanship, distinctive temper patterns, and formidable cutting ability.

This design features a surviving Muramasa wakizashi from the Muromachi period — a blade bearing the swordsmith’s name and preserved today in the collection of the Kyushu National Museum.

Made for use rather than display, Muramasa blades earned a formidable reputation in their own time. Centuries later, stories connecting them to misfortune within the Tokugawa family gave rise to the legend of the yōtō — the cursed sword — transforming Muramasa’s name from that of a master craftsman into one of the most enduring legends in Japanese history.

More than a graphic tee, it’s a wearable document of craftsmanship and legend — a reminder of how an object forged for battle can outlive its original purpose and become part of cultural memory.

Part of THE MOMENT. collection — a series dedicated to powerful moments and artifacts that shaped the world.
